To ensure that every Dallas resident has access to high-quality preventive care within their own communities.

Our Challenge

Shocking as it may sound, there are zip codes in Dallas County with a 22-year lower life expectancy than others. And what lies at the heart of this startling reality? A lack of access to care.

Health inequity is a serious problem in Dallas, and no institution is better positioned to address it than Parkland. Of course, we can’t do it alone. We need you.

Our Solution

The proposed Mike A. Myers Center has been carefully conceived to meet this urgent need. Its location at Dallas College’s Richland campus was strategically chosen to provide preventive care to a large population of current Parkland patients—patients who might otherwise seek care in the emergency room.

With proximity to three DART bus stops, the center will allow for increased access, as a vast majority of our patients rely on public transit to get to and from healthcare appointments. The proposed health center will also meet the needs of Dallas’ growing immigrant and refugee population as well as alleviate overflow and wait times at existing neighboring health centers. 

The concept is based on a proven clinical model, one pioneered right here at Parkland. It aims to holistically meet patient needs by offering a “one-stop shop” for their healthcare. In particular, the clinic is expected to provide the following:

• Adult Clinic
• Women’s and Infants’ Clinic
• Pediatric Clinic
• Optometry
• Podiatry
• Pharmacy
• Lab Services
• Patient Financial Counseling
• Radiology
• Drive-thru Vaccinations

What’s Next?

When operational, the Mike A. Myers Health Center is projected to serve 18,000 patients. It will help address community disparities head-on by providing primary and specialty services to the community.
