Our Goal

To improve women’s healthcare in Dallas County. Parkland is uniquely positioned to drive this change, delivering 1 in 3 babies in the county and providing prenatal care to more than 12,000 women annually. With 11 Women’s Health Clinics and a Women’s Health mobile unit, Parkland is committed to expanding services and reaching underserved areas.

Our Challenge

Women in Dallas County, especially those who are low-income and uninsured, face significant challenges accessing affordable healthcare. There are disparities in maternal health outcomes across our community, with higher rates of complications and mortality among women of color. Additionally, gaps in reproductive health services, mental health support, and preventive care contribute to poor health outcomes for at-risk women.

Our Solution

Our program ensures women receive essential preventative, reproductive, and postpartum care – saving lives and uplifting families. Parkland Health Foundation believes an investment in access to family planning services and contraceptives of choice for nearly 30,000 women is an investment in our community’s future.

What’s Next?

Improving women’s healthcare in Dallas County requires a comprehensive approach. Parkland is making these improvements by:

• Expanding the Extending Maternal Care after Pregnancy (eMCAP) program to improve access and outcomes for at-risk postpartum women
• Deploying its mobile unit staffed with providers, nurses, social workers, and pharmacy provides essential healthcare for postpartum women within their neighborhood
• Supporting moms and babies through programs like Dallas Healthy Start and the Nurse-Family Partnership, which provide counseling, education, and support for parents of newborns. We also partner with organizations like Hope Supply Co. to distribute diapers, wipes, and other baby necessities.
