Hillcrest Foundation commits $1 million to support Parkland Health’s new Richland Health Center at Dallas College

The new health center will open in 2026

DALLAS – Parkland Health Foundation received a $1 million gift from the Hillcrest Foundation in support of Parkland’s new Richland Health Center at Dallas College. Located approximately five miles north of Parkland’s Vickery Health Center and less than 10 miles from Garland Health Center, the Richland Health Center at Dallas College – Richland Campus will provide an additional 30,000 square feet to Parkland’s ambulatory health portfolio in northeast Dallas County.

According to Parkland’s assessment of the prevalence of health challenges in Dallas County, the community surrounding the Richland campus is rated a “high” risk area mainly due to a disproportionately high incidence of chronic conditions including hypertension, diabetes, asthma, heart disease and cancer. The proposed health center will meet the needs of a growing immigrant and refugee population as well as alleviate overflow and wait times at existing neighboring health centers.

“We are deeply grateful for this philanthropic investment from our partners at the Hillcrest Foundation,” said Michael Horne, EdD, MPP, President and CEO of the Parkland Health Foundation. “Upon completion, the new clinic will have the capacity to serve more than 18,000 residents, significantly improving access to essential healthcare services and advancing health equity throughout Dallas County.”

Bolstered by the philanthropic support of the Hillcrest Foundation, the new clinic will holistically address patient needs by providing a “one-stop-shop” for their healthcare with services ranging from adult and pediatric primary care to radiology.

The Hillcrest Foundation has supported Parkland Health Foundation through various campaigns in the past, including a generous gift of $1 million to support the construction of the new Parkland campus in 2011 and $1 million to support the Moody Center for Breast Health in 2017.

The Hillcrest Foundation provides financial support for charitable organizations for the advancement of education, the promotion of health and the relief of poverty.

“The Hillcrest Foundation values Parkland’s efforts to advance health equity and increase access to essential care in Dallas County,” said Kelly Garlock, Senior Vice President, Philanthropic Client Manager at Bank of America Private Bank, on behalf of the Trustees of The Hillcrest Foundation. “We are proud to honor the legacy of Mrs. Caruth Sr. through this transformative project which aligns with the Foundation’s mission to promote healthcare to the people of Texas.”
