Donors helped fund innovative programs to create a healthier Dallas County, contributed to groundbreaking research and helped provide essential services to individuals in need of care. January

Parkland Health Foundation announced a $600,000 philanthropic investment from The Addy Foundation to support expanding family planning services at Parkland Health. This funding will provide Parkland with the resources to increase access to its Family Planning Services program, allowing the health system to address barriers women and girls face when trying to access contraceptive care. The program is aimed at improving health equity within the community by empowering all women in need with affordable reproductive healthcare, resources and education.

The Crystal Charity Ball selected Parkland Health Foundation as a beneficiary and donated $1 million to support the Pediatric Health Clinic at Parkland’s new Richland Health Center. Since 1988, The Crystal Charity Ball has donated $6.8 million in support of Parkland Health initiatives. Crystal Charity Ball members went on a tour of the Parkland campus, and nearly 100 staff members from across the system came out in Parkland Purple to celebrate and thank Crystal Charity Ball for their support.

The Wind & Fire Motorcycle Club gave $10,000 that was raised at their annual chili cookoff. The funds were designated to support Parkland Health’s burn camp, Camp I Thonka Chi. Burn camp allows children who have been hospitalized with burn injuries a chance to heal with others who have experienced burns.

Parkland Health Foundation hosted Candid Conversations, a panel focused on the family planning barriers women and girls in Dallas County face and the solutions that will expand access to care. Panelists included Alan Cohen, CEO, Child Poverty Action Lab; Aimee Cunningham, President, The Boone Family Foundation; Nirupama DeSilva, M.D, Medical Director, Family Planning, Parkland Health; and moderator Lauren Blitzer, Executive Director, Leland Fikes Foundation.

May

Parkland launched an initiative aimed at broadening access to family planning services. Parkland, in collaboration with Trust Her, an initiative of the nonprofit Child Poverty Action Lab, deployed a new mobile clinic dedicated to enhancing access to family planning and women’s health services in Dallas. The Women’s Wellness Mobile Clinic is stationed at Dallas College campuses throughout the county. This mobile clinic represents a major step forward in addressing the need for accessible family planning and sexually transmitted infection (STI) screening services in the region. Funded entirely by philanthropic dollars with a lead gift directed to CPAL from Communities Foundation of Texas’ W.W. Caruth, Jr. Fund and other philanthropic dollars provided by generous donors to the Parkland Health Foundation, this mobile clinic represents a major step forward in addressing the need for accessible family planning and sexually transmitted infection (STI) screening services in the region.

Parkland Health Foundation announced a $1 million gift from the Hoblitzelle Foundation in support of Parkland Health’s new Richland Health Center at Dallas College. The new clinic, opening in 2026, will provide a “one-stop-shop” for patients, providing services ranging from adult and pediatric care to radiology. In a location that has a growing immigrant and refugee population, the clinic will provide essential services and alleviate overflow and wait times at existing neighboring health centers. To recognize this gift, the Adult Clinic will be named in honor of the foundation and its late founders, Karl and Esther Hoblitzelle.

Several anonymous donors made gifts to support our pediatric behavioral health program. Emotional, mental and behavioral health disorders impact one in five Dallas children— 12,000 children alone who rely on Parkland. Without access to proper care, these children are at risk to see their conditions worsen. These gifts will help expand the program, increase the number of screenings made each year and help create early interventions that ensure at-risk children receive the care they need, when they need it.

August

Parkland received a $100,000 gift from the Harry S. Moss Trust, supporting an expansion of Parkland’s Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) program. This expansion will impact the heart health of patients with hypertension while also supporting work to collect invaluable data to drive future patient care and research initiatives. The existing RPM pilot project provides a 90-day healthcare intervention to patients with uncontrolled blood pressure who are at highest risk for congestive heart failure, and who were seen in Parkland’s Emergency Department (ED) on more than one occasion. These are also patients who are more likely to experience barriers to healthcare access because of their income, race, ethnicity and/or geography.

Parkland Health Foundation participated in North Texas Giving Day, Communities Foundation of Texas’ largest community investment initiative. Each year, 100% of each donation goes to nonprofits in more than 25 cause areas across 20 North Texas counties. More than 160 donors supported Parkland Health Foundation donating a total of $42,462.48 to support healthcare initiatives in Dallas County.

National Life Group’s Do Good Fest Texas was a tremendous success, bringing together families from across North Texas for a day filled with live music, delicious food, and meaningful community. National Life Group made a $65,000 donation to support Pediatric Behavioral Health at Parkland Health. This contribution will have a lasting impact, helping children across Dallas County access essential mental health services.

Parkland Health Foundation hosted its annual Presidents’ Reception. Event sponsors included Amazon, Locke Lord LLP, Genentech, Parkland Community Health Plan, Southwestern Medical Foundation, C3 FINANCIAL PARTNERS, Dallas Regional Chamber, UT Southwestern Medical Center, Children’s Health, Mezquite Installations, Inc., Truist, Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, and Park Place Motorcars Dallas. It was an evening full of inspiration and hope as attendees learned about the incredible impact Parkland Health is making in the community. Dr. Fred Cerise, Dr. Michael Horne, and CBS 11’s Robbie Owens held an insightful discussion on Parkland, current advancements in healthcare, and the future of the healthcare landscape in Dallas County.

For the third consecutive year, Dr. Michael Horne, President and CEO of Parkland Health Foundation, was recognized as a member of the prestigious Dallas 500 by DCEO Magazine. This honor celebrates his leadership and dedication to advancing healthcare in our community. Dr. Horne joined other Parkland leaders, Dr. Fred Cerise and Dr. Steve Miff, in the distinguished list.

Right after Thanksgiving, giving season kicked off with Giving Tuesday. This year, generous community members donated a total of $42,462 to support Parkland Health Foundation. These gifts supported key initiatives and helped set a solid foundation for 2025.
